Recently, I joined a 5-day challenge on Instagram all about improving your money mindset, something I’ve been meaning to work on for a while.
The challenge itself was fantastic. The host was incredibly relatable, and the way she delivered the content felt calm, spiritual, supportive, and grounded. It was the kind of space that immediately made me feel safe and seen. Even the visuals, the aesthetics of her lives, the colours, her tone of voice, were totally aligned with the experience she was creating.
I felt connected. I felt aligned. I was in.
Of course, I knew she’d be pitching an offer at the end of the challenge, after all, that’s often the point of running something like this and I was totally open to hearing it. But that’s where things changed.
When she introduced her paid programme, the vibe shifted completely. The branding was suddenly bold, masculine, almost aggressive. The programme name was tough-sounding, the visuals had an “alpha bro” energy, and it felt completely disconnected from the nurturing, feminine space she’d cultivated over the week.
I didn’t even get as far as the offer details because the disconnect in branding created enough of a wobble that I didn’t trust it would be the same experience I’d just had. I know I wasn’t the only one who felt that.
